Misdemeanors
Misdemeanor crimes fall into two categories: simple and gross. Simple misdemeanor charges include such crimes as possession of marijuana (depending on the quantity), shoplifting and disorderly conduct. These charges carry penalties of up to 90 days in jail and fines up to $1,000.00. Gross misdemeanors are more serious offenses which carry penalties of up to one year in jail and fines of up to $5,000.00.
